Happy New Year + One Month

Mark and I made sure we were back in Australia to celebrate the new year as we had already booked tickets to spend the evening on a boat in the harbour.  This was great because we got to avoid all the big crowds and did not have to hang out downtown all day.  For New Year's there are a certain number of boats allowed in the harbour, which all participate in the light parade.  We were served dinner on the boat and then we watched the fireworks.  I don't think I have ever seen so many fireworks.  They were literally all around us.  We tried to capture some good pictures, but it was quite difficult.
Our boat.
Sun setting over the harbour.
Dessert on the boat.
Waiting for the fireworks to begin.
The moon was huge that night.

And the fireworks begin...

Here is a video link to the televised version:

Later that week, we went to the zoo.  Mark had not yet been and I was more than happy to visit again.  The animals were extremely active that day.  Here are a few pics.

Eating a cardboard box.  Yummy, fiber.

This little guy was trying so hard to climb inside that tire, he just wouldn't quite fit.
